Tips – Maintaining A Good Credit Report
The following are a few tips on how to maintain a good credit report:
- Firstly, a request for the compilation of the credit report needs to be done by the individual or a company for having the right records of monetary transactions. Gathering of this information may be from some companies or bodies that have evidence of any bills, debts paid or unpaid by the person for whom the report is to be compiled.
- It should be made sure that the credit history is not too short. Having a credit history that is too short means that the individual does not even have a bank account of his or her own, and is thus declared to be inefficient at handling money. Short credit history is a common but complicated problem associated with credit reports. It can be handled by starting from owning an account in any bank, taking small scale loans and recording regular payments of the loan in the credit report so that there will be something that is worthy of a mention in the credit report.
- Less the negative information on the credit history, better will the credit report be. The negative information about the credit history of a person is called a ding commonly, and there is an exclusive section in the report for mentioning about the dings. This negative information will include late payment of debts, irregular payment of installments of a loan, improper payment of the interest amount in case of a loan again and so on. In case there has been any condition of bankruptcy that has been filed by the person, it is mentioned in the credit report as well. These credit reports should have the least dings i.e. the right amount of money should be paid at the right time to the lenders that will help maintain a credit report of good standards.
- Credit reports should have the details of the person or the company that is perfect and free from any slightest error. Any discrepancy noticed by the individual between the actual and the reported information can be disputed over. It is best to report to the credit bureau and change the incorrect details of the credit report. Any error even in the personal information should also be compulsorily changed. In a nut shell a good credit report is the one that is free from errors.
